F.O. - Earflap Hat

Sorry! I haven't taken any pictures of my complete mittens yet, even though I've been wearing them for three days already. I'll get round to it at some point - I promise!

That's me trying to look like I don't have a migrane. I called in sick to work today because I couldn't see out of my left eye properly when I woke up. It's finally starting to wane, but I have the feeling the minute I stop taking the medicine I'll feel like shit again. So I quickly snapped that photo in the 20 mins I have where the painkillers are actually working.

Regardless of my stupid migrane, do you like my hat?

Pattern: my own
Yarn: 1 skein of Sirdar Bigga in Damson Mist
Hook: 10mm
Time: An hour?
Cost: 1.50 (you've gotta love bargain bin yarn!)

Mittens!

Yup, I finished my mittens. No photos though. I'm cranky after a 9 hour shift, so you'll have to wait untill tommorrow for that.

I finished the second mitten while listening to Stasn'n'Burn. I love it! It's probably my favourite podcast. I finished plenty of projects will listening to the girls chat.

W.I.P - Peek-a-boo Mittens

I'm getting bored of knitting mum's cardigan. So I started (and finished one!) my Peekaboo mittens.

It's so pretty, and I'm really chuffed with how it's knitting up. Hopefully I can finish them before I hop on the train to go to Norwich.

Don't you just love my handwriting? It's so bad. I can barely understand it most of the time. But what with lacking a printer, I have no option but to scrawl the whole pattern out.

W.I.P - Mum's Cardigan

And she has sleeves! I've done elbow length sleeves since my mum's a shorty, and she hates being too hot.

Sorry for the craptastic picture. It's the middle of the night and I can't be bothered with lighting it properly.

But since I'm going over to mum's tommorrow, I'm gonna need something to knit while I'm there. Obviously I can't take the cardigan, since that would spoil the suprise. But you didn't need me to tell you that. Did you?

So I've started some mittens - namely the Peekaboo Mittens from Magknits. I'm using Marble by James C Brett in Amethyst. They're looking good so far :D

To bust or not to bust...

Stash bust that is!

The results are in - I'm crap at stash-busting! I've done well using up old yarn that I've had for ages, but I'm pretty sure I now have more yarn than I started with. And I bought more. (Just some deep red wool I found in a charity shop. Come on! Four balls for £3.00? You can't go wrong!)

What will you do with me eh?

W.I.P. - Mum's Cardigan

A ha! The green cardigan has a completed body!

I didnt have enough of any particular black in my stash, so I had to pop to the shop to get some. It's only cheapy acyrlic, but it works!

Is it looking a bit 80's though?

I also folded and bought some Sirdar Bigga that was in the bargain bin. It was only £1.50 instead of £4.50. I dunno what I'm going to make with it though :\

NaBloPoMo - A losing battle.

Just as I'm really getting into the swing of posting daily, my computer was taken away by a terrible computer eating virus :\ EEK! The amazing PC man came round to take it away on Saturday and I only got it back today.

It's been a tough few days without the internet. Who knew how much I needed Ravelry and Craftster to keep me sane? I barely got any knitting done either. I suck.

I know I've missed a couple of days and now I won't win anything, but I'm still going to try and post for every day that's left in November. Even if it kills me.

(well...maybe not - just untill I have nothing left to write about)

Dreaming of Yarn

Literally! Last night I dreamt I was in £-strecher (or some other cheap-o shop well known to the British high street). Mum was there, and maybe Amethyst too. We wondered around the shop for ages, and just as we were leaving, I found a big wicker basket on a shelf.
Inside it was loads of random half balls of fun fur - and in just the colours I need to finish my scrumble pillow. I was trying to sort through them when I woke up.

Worried dream about not having enough yarn methinks?

Fibre Funny!

Sean's a good boyfriend. He's thoughtful - so thoughtful, that when trawling the internet for lolcats and other funnies, he'll occassionally save me a picture. Last night - he showed me this:

How awesome is this guy? Dressed head to toe in crochet. Yellow stripy crochet at that. And actually crocheting too.
I need to meet this guy! I want to be his crochet buddy.

W.I.P - Mum's cardigan

Can you belieave it? THe lump of green is actually starting to look like a cardigan!

It's looking good right? I'm not sure what I'm going to do about the button band yet. Either black or a solid green. Decisions, decisions...

Cold Hands, Warm Heart

I've been at home by myself all day today, since Sean's gone to work. So I've spent the afternoon knitting - mostly mum's cargidan. It's going well, but I decided not to take progress pictures since it's still looking like a lump of green nothing. I'm now past the armpits and knitting the main body part.

I've had terribly cold hands all day though - winter has really struck here in the UK. And I'm missing gloves. I'm thinking either these : corazon or Peek-a-boo. I'll probably go with Peek-a-boo, since I need something that's quick and easy. Plus they have that handy hole so I can still type or knit (always handy!).

But what yarn?

F.O. - Will's hat

I finished Will's hat today, you like?

Obviously - not modelled by Will. Ed the Head kindly stepped in. He's an orc don't ya know.
Pattern : a cross between hot head and the kittyville hat (both S'n'B)
Yarn : 1 skein of Stylecraft Ltd Special Chunky in errrr...brown?
Time: 1 day
Cost: £1.20

I love this yarn. It's soft, versatile and warm too. It wears well and you can chuck it in the washing machine with no problems.

Working hard

I've been at work (yay! A new job!), and was hoping to get some knitting done. But, I was too busy. Telemarketing is hard y'all!

So, there's no pictures today. But last night after posting, I started Will's hat for Christmas. So there's progress. Just no evidence.

W.I.P - Square blanket

This is the latest square in a long time - I started a swap way back in June. It's been a really tough swap. People dropping out, not keeping up and squares going missing. It's been hell, quite frankly. But I sill continue with my idea for a beautiful hand-knit and crochet blanket, from crafters all over the world!

Poor blue baby

I found this yarn in a charity shop a while ago. I scooped up the bag without looking at the state of it. It was only 20p after all! Once home, I realised what I had gotten myself into.
A blue tangled mess. So very very tangled. And kinky too (not the good kind, mind you). It had obviously been knit up and then frogged.

Eh. Mangled fun.

Two hours later, and we have three skeins hung and un-tangled. Yay! Now to wait for them to dry...

There was one ball that was still un-knit. Isn't it pretty? It's oh-so-soft and squidgy.
I'm not sure what I'm doing with it yet - maybe a Christmas present for Leon. It's a good colour for a 5 year old boy, right?

NaBloPoMo

NaBloPoMo - eh? It's National Blog Posting Month. Since I'm such a bad blogger, I'm hoping this will entice me into the world of daily blogging. Yeah. Cos that's going to happen.
30 whole days of blogging. Listening to me whine on about knitting and crocheting. And maybe even some cooking! A little bit of quilting too me thinks...

All that shiny green yarn finally dried! It's beautiful to knit with - but i'm still not sure of the fibre content. It's going to be a basic top-down raglan of my own design, with a crossover and 3/4 sleeves.
